All smoke alarms, installations and educational materials are provided to residents, free-of-charge, by the American Red Cross and their corporate and community partners. They also help residents design an escape plan which shows the best ways to exit the home in the event of a fire. During a home visit some team members install the alarms while others inform the residents about how to prevent fires in the home. Volunteers canvas neighborhoods across the country to provide free smoke alarms and installation for any home that needs them.
